Content Update Policy
Last updated June 3, 2026 · Maintained by the Algeria Compass editorial team
How often we revisit published content, what triggers an update, and how updates are dated and distinguished from corrections.
Travel information goes out of date. This policy explains how Algeria Compass keeps published content current and how we signal when something has changed.
Why updates matter
A guide that was accurate when written can mislead a year later if transport, access, entry requirements or prices have changed. We treat maintenance as part of publishing, not an afterthought. Every page carries a visible “last updated” date so you can judge how current it is.
Review schedule
Published pages are reviewed on a recurring schedule, with priority given to the pages where information changes fastest and where errors would matter most — practical logistics, transport and any entry or visa guidance. Cornerstone pages such as our flagship province guides are reviewed regularly; reference content that changes slowly is reviewed less often but is still revisited.
What triggers an out-of-cycle update
Beyond the schedule, we update a page promptly when: a reader or authority reports a change; a relevant official source changes (for example, a change in heritage-site arrangements or transport); we become aware of new, better-sourced information; or significant events affect travel in a region.
How updates are recorded
When a page is materially updated, its “last updated” date is revised, and its factual claims are re-verified as part of the change — an update is not just a date bump. Trivial edits that do not change meaning may be made without changing the date.
Updates versus corrections
An update refreshes information that was accurate but has changed. A correction fixes information that was inaccurate when published (see our Corrections Policy). Both keep the page trustworthy; significant corrections are additionally disclosed, while routine updates are reflected in the date.
Volatile information
For information that changes frequently or carries real consequences — visa rules above all — we deliberately avoid stating specifics that could go stale and instead direct readers to the relevant official authority. This is a safety and accuracy choice.
Responsibility
The review function owns the maintenance schedule and the decision to update, applying the same verification standard used before first publication.
